Another day of freezing rain and lots of snow. Just when the original snow was all but gone, nature had to come and throw everyone a huge laugh and say, not just yet. I think my favorite time of the year is the spring time. When you see early spring flowers begin ti bloom and the buds on trees begin to open you can feel the environmental changes. I always enjoy this time of year but then there are always those teaser weeks or days where the temperature is uncanny warm and you hope it just lasts that way.
This session we will be reading poetry and although I do not mind reading poetry it does take someone with a bit of feeling and perhaps passion to understand the logic behind the poetry. Yes, that is an opinion and yet I am sure many would agree but one thing is for certain, the weather will not bring down to the point of not enjoying a good read. I just finished my other class at my other college so I am down to just one class for a few weeks. Hopefully the poetry session will be as fun and as enjoyable as the last few sessions. So far, I have not been let down. I do wish the assignments could be turned in on Sunday instead of Friday because whenever an assignment is due on a Friday I feel so trapped. Many adult students need the weekend to do homework but then again no one said college would be easy. Happy reading to all and enjoy this winter spectacle.

Reading interruptions:
The other day I had an appointment so i decided to take the book The Red Badge of Courage in case I had ample time to read I could use my time wisely. As I checked in and sat down to begin my reading a lady asked me about the book i was reading and so I told her the book and why I was reading it. Things were quiet for several minutes so I again began to read. Then the lady started to tell me about some of the books she was reading or had read and about the authors. I listened to the lady but I made no attempt at starting a conversation I wasn't rude but I wanted to read my book. I got to page 3 in the Red Badge of Courage and again the lady started to converse with me about her neighbors. I knew from that moment that unless I was rude I was not going to get any reading done. I listened the lady and was polite and thankfully my turn for my appointment came and I left.
I think if I was to see someone reading i would not interrupt them unless I had to or unless they put the book down. Conversations are great but not when it comes to the expense of someone trying to do something else. In any case I am halfway through the book and I plan on finishing it today if there are not to many interruptions.

Everyday actions that remind me of stories
I read the story Neighbor Rosicky the other day and wow, was I ever glad I read the story. The story talks about a man that has literally been around the world and went from city life to country living and basically has never done any wrong. When the man talked about how he ate the Christmas goose and felt so bad about doing it that he literally was going to beg people for money to replace the goose I realized just how much a story can remind us of our everyday life. No, I did not eat a goose but I went to my neighbors house to help him with a plumbing issue and I saw a pair of pliers that looked very familiar. After the plumbing was done my neighbor handed me a pair of pliers and said these are for you. I asked my neighbor why would you give me a pair of pliers and he said I borrowed yous and broke them so I felt I needed to replace them. If only more people would be that way.
The stories we have read about so far have all been fairly good reads. I must admit I am a little apprehensive about the Red Badge of Courage because of the dealing with war but I must get through it since I need to read the book for homework. I will post about the Red Badge of Courage in a few days.

Cabin Fever get away - a novel
With all of the snow and bad weather i figure why not just start a fire and make some coco and read a few of the novels in our book. I wanted a warm story to start with but the story "To Build a Fire" just kept coming to my mind. i would look out the window and imagine the winds in Northern Alaska and the necessary things a person would have to do in order to survive.
It's weird about authors can pull the reader in so much you loose the track of time and or you can become friends with the characters in the books. After I read The Cadian Ball I wanted to read The Storm. I took from those two books a great deal of questioning and yet I had many answers. The author left out information so it allowed the reader to presume their own opinions. i like books like that but sometimes those books can lead to great debates. Still though, when I read a book i do not end the book and say that was dumb, I try to understand why the author would do that and then it makes perfect sense. Had the author not done the book in that way maybe I would not have been so into the book to finish it.
